Eraserheads Is The Greatest Band of My Generation
We went there very early, we weren’t lucky enough to get VIP or SVIP tickets so getting at the venue earlier was the best plan we had. Unfortunately, most people were thinking about the same thing. We settled to a place near the fence in the Patron section with barbarians near us. But screw them, we were there for the Eraserheads and nobody could ever top that.
The ten-minute countdown before the concert started was the longest of my life, I was in tears despite the sweat and hunger, and I didn’t care anyway. Most of the people attended were true blue fans, it was proven when the announcement that Ely was rushed to the hospital, most of us were quiet and in shock. Some a-holes shouted for refund but they were too few to be heard. When I saw the people’s reaction about the news I can’t help but remembered Ely singing, “They tried to tell us we’re too old…”. Yes, we’re old enough to understand things like these and we only did the right thing.
Hit songs like “Torpedo”, “Magasin”, “Ang Huling El Bimbo”, “Overdrive”, “Pare Ko”, “Julie Tearjerky”, and “Para Sa Masa” were obviously in the second set but we weren’t able to hear them because of what happened. I’m sure bigger fireworks were prepared for those songs. What could’ve happened while hearing these songs again, we don’t know and there’s no point in wondering. One thing is for sure, people still love the Eraserheads and they are indeed the greatest band of my generation.
Sure we didn’t see them do a group hug but their presence is good enough. Of course it would be a lot better if they did.
We still don’t know if there’s going to be a part 2 of the reunion concert but I don’t think it’s necessary. After hearing more or less 15 songs I think its okay already. But if ever there’s going to be another performance I will still attend, I just love them like that.
And in latest news, Ely was transferred to Philippine Heart Center as of 1AM today. He was first rushed to Makati Medical Center due to chest pains and stress. He’s still mourning about his mom’s passing plus I think he was also excited about the concert. He even said “Ang daming tao ah.” in between songs during the concert. More or less 40,000 fans were present.
Please stop spreading bad rumors about the concert and Ely. I was there and I knew something was wrong in the last few minutes before the break. He didn’t sound and look good and it was obvious he was having a hard time. Let’s just pray for his speedy recovery.
And thanks to James Nicolay’s comment to a previous post, here are some pictures of the biggest event of the year. Plus a video of the concert’s first few minutes.
And a video of the news last night.
