Ako Mismo Dog Tag Day – A Success
It was a night of pledges, charity work and of course fun!
People lined up to buy the dog tags from different booths – outside and even inside the venue. Some of the charities were able to sell the expensive dog tags (long chains and with better quality compared to the P40 dog tags which also served as ticket) for P400 and before the concert started expensive kinds were already sold out. Photo booths for attendees who want to have souvenir were built and different merchandise were sold too. Proceeds went straight to charity including Cutis Laxa Benefit, an institution that helps people diagnosed with the disease. And as Wendell Garcia of Pupil told the audience, his daughter is the first case from our country.
Ramon Bautista, Nikki Gil and Mark Abaya hosted the event but I think it was Ramon who owned the stage. Whenever he feels like the crowd is getting bored, he’ll crack a simple joke and people are paying attention again. Nikki Gil helped a lot in interviewing the celebrities and in making them feel comfortable.
Different bands performed like The Dawn, Up Dharma Down, Kamikazee, Kjwan, Bamboo and Pupil. The crowd roared with excitement when Jay Contreras did his wacky moves while people sang along with The Dawn in Salamat. Pinoy pride went wild when Bamboo sang and went to the crowd straight to the sound booth. And of course people were chanting “Ely!” begging for him to come out and perform. Pupil did a different version of their hit song Sala with lyrics especially made for Ako Mismo. The ground shook when they started playing Disconnection Notice but we almost had an earthquake when they starting playing the intro to Alapaap. “Eto na talaga ang Final Set”, was Ely’s words after the song. Everybody sang as if it was 3 months ago.
Celebrities were there to support the advocacy too. All of them are hoping that these little pledges will help change the country if not the world.
Let us not forget the reason behind the advocacy of Ako Mismo. If we want change we have to start with ourselves. A simple pledge like “giving a smile” to a random person can make a difference.

FYI: Ako Mismo dog tags will be available for sale in Mail and More outlets starting July and in AIR 21 outlets starting June 19. Both ordinary and premium dog tags will be available for the price of P40 and P400 respectively. If for some reason, the dog tags are still not available by June 19 please check again starting July. Beware of fake AKO Mismo dog tags being sold around Metro Manila.

hi Vera! the dog tags will be soon available in Air 21 branches. i think they will be selling both the cheap and expensive kinds.
