Bruno Does GQ, Y’all!

Bruno vs Aniston on GQMany have seen this cover but I just can’t help but post. I am not a Cohen fan but he amazes me in so many ways. I have to admit not everything about Borat is funny for me and I didn’t appreciate everything in that movie but to be able to do something like that is another story.

Here is the flamboyant Bruno is his “nudo-ness” (pictured above) gracing the cover of GQ imitating the famous Jennifer Aniston cover months ago.

CK Billboard In New York Stirs Up Controversy

June 25th, 2009 / No Comments » / by chorva /

CK Jeans adCalvin Klein ads are very well known to be controversial, provocative and, well, racy at times. A few weeks ago a new CK Jeans billboard hit New York City’s SoHo neighborhood and people immediately raised their eyebrows upon seeing it.

The enormous billboard, plastered to an entire side of a building, features 4 people, 1 girl and 3 guys, semi-clothed, in a sexually suggestive act. Some say it is hot but many say it is racy and want the ad to be taken down.

“I don’t want my kids to see it”, complains a mom while another New Yorker say she is not offended or provoked in any way by it.

A Calvin Klein spokesperson said “the intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic”. And I honestly think they’ve done it very well — not only they’ve created a “very sexy campaign” but also created a buzz about it.

Past CK ads which created controversies featured a teenage Brooke Shields in the 80s and a topless Kate Moss when she was like 16 or 17 (not sure how old was she then).

Do you think it is offensive?

Zoolander Sequel Is On Its Way

June 25th, 2009 / No Comments » / by chorva /

Ben Stiller as Derek ZoolanderDerek Zoolander has become a famous name in dumb comedy since the movie Zoolander’s released in 2001. Dimwit as we know him but he is downright funny and very lovable too.

And since this is an era of remakes and sequels whoever hasn’t thought about not making a follow up to the first movie may be considered not ‘professionally good looking’ or a student in ‘the school for ants’. ;) So yes, we are hopeful — at least I am and I think a lot of fans are too. After all, I don’t think I can fit in in that school, it’s too tiny for me.

When star, director and writer of the movie, Ben Stiller, was asked about doing a sequel he told the press he’d love to do Zoolander 2. “We’ve actually worked on a script over the years and hopefully it’ll happen”, says Stiller adding “It’s just a matter of getting it all together and finding the right story, but it would really be fun to do that again.” Right story, you say? It’s been nearly ten years ago since we saw Derek and Hansel strut their way to the catwalk and let’s face it they’re not getting any younger. Will ‘Twolander’ (a title suggested by movie co-writer John Hamburg) be about ‘really, really ridiculously good looking’ dads this time? I think that would be a great storyline.

Any other fans of the movie aside from me? What do you think about a Zoolander sequel?

TVC of the Week - Eraserheads in Sandbox

June 16th, 2009 / No Comments » / by chorva /

Every Eheads fan felt one thing only when this TV commercial started airing a few days ago: excited. But I have a better description of that feeling, boy or girl, man or woman, everybody got kilig.

Oy, umamin kayo, totoo di ba?

This commercial was actually shot during the band’s rehearsal for The Final Set. Fans knew the band is supposed to have a commercial for Smart Telecoms but we haven’t seen anything before or after the concert, it will come as a surprise to all of us apparently.

I don’t really care about Sandbox, all I care about is the commercial.

Ako Mismo Dog Tag Day - A Success

June 16th, 2009 / 7 Comments » / by chorva /

It was a night of pledges, charity work and of course fun!

AKO Mismo Dog TagPeople lined up to buy the dog tags from different booths – outside and even inside the venue. Some of the charities were able to sell the expensive dog tags (long chains and with better quality compared to the P40 dog tags which also served as ticket) for P400 and before the concert started expensive kinds were already sold out. Photo booths for attendees who want to have souvenir were built and different merchandise were sold too. Proceeds went straight to charity including Cutis Laxa Benefit, an institution that helps people diagnosed with the disease. And as Wendell Garcia of Pupil told the audience, his daughter is the first case from our country.

Ramon Bautista, Nikki Gil and Mark Abaya hosted the event but I think it was Ramon who owned the stage. Whenever he feels like the crowd is getting bored, he’ll crack a simple joke and people are paying attention again. Nikki Gil helped a lot in interviewing the celebrities and in making them feel comfortable.

Nicole Scherzinger Interested to Sing Philippines’ National Anthem

June 10th, 2009 / No Comments » / by chorva /

Nicole ScherzingerThe Pussycat Dolls lead vocalist Nicole Scherzinger expressed her interest in singing the Philippine national anthem to any of the future boxing match of Manny Pacquiao. Nicole, a half Filipino (but if you ask me I think she has like 1/8 Filipino blood already, almost unnoticeable), says she’s a big fan of the boxing hero and one of her dream projects is to sing for her kababayan. That’s quite a tough challenge for her obviously because she doesn’t even know at least 5 Filipino words let alone sing our national anthem.

Pacquiao personally chooses the singer of the national anthem at his previous matches which also had controversies. Jennifer Bautista sang a bit off-key and changed the ending of the song while Martin Nievera was criticized by altering the song’s tempo which is prohibited by the law. Pacquiao hasn’t announced who he’s going to fight next.
